Weather stops Bassett debut

RUGBY: Exciting Bedford Blues winger and former Arnold Middle and Harlington Upper student Josh Bassett was deprived of his England U20 debut as their Six Nations game against Italy in Rovigo, Italy, on Friday night was postponed by French referee Cedric Marchat due to a frozen pitch.

Head coach Rob Hunter said: “It’s massively disappointing for the lads. We’ve trained well and prepared well all week so to not play at the end of that is a shame, but the pitch has been deemed unplayable and we have to respect that.”

England’s next game is against Wales at The Stoop on Friday, February 24.
