Shanice Marshall-Sefia

Luton youngster Shanice Marshall-Sefia won the On the Line Riverside Junior Open U16 girls consolation singles event earlier this month.

After losing to Jemima Potter in the main draw, she then saw off Asha Badiani 6-4, 6-3 in the semi-final and Mhari Tyler 6-3, 6-3 in the final for victory.

In the U14 event, Marshall-Sefia defeated Indu Ragunather, Victoria Mahy and Kira Reuter to reach the final, but lost to Elizabeth Allwood 6-3, 6-2.

The youngster also took part in the Northampton Winter Regional Tour U14 girls singles tournament, reaching the final.

She beat Ellie Gale 6-1, 6-1 in the last 16, before defeating Jessica Mair 6-0, 6-2 in the quarter-finals.

A walkover victory over Anna Loughlan in the semi-final saw Marshall-Sefia into the final, but she went down 6-2, 6-3 to Elizabeth Pam.
