DUNSTABLE swimmer Emily Ridout has a golden chance to represent her country at the Olympic Games in London 2012 after she qualified for Olympic Trials to be held on March 9, writes Mike Simmonds.

The teenager, who attends Queensbury School, will take to the pool at the 50m freestyle event to be held in the new London Aquatics Centre in Stratford after making the qualifying time last year.

Dad David, who is also head coach at Dunstable Swimming Club, said: “I’m really thrilled for her. It’s a great experience and it would be excellent to get there. Realistically we’re looking at four years time really as she would need to get a whole second faster.”
