Town get Active with their food
New caterers at Kenilworth Road are announced
New caterers have been installed at Kenilworth Road for next season.
After a rigorous tender process, the Hatters have selected Active Luton to cater for them for the next two seasons.
Gary Sweet, Luton Town managing director pictured, said: "We are building lasting, fruitful and profitable relationships with all suppliers. We already work with Active Luton on a number of sporting projects so we know they will deliver.
"Catering has been an area highlighted for improvement and investment so it is fantastic that we can now get on with those plans. Once everything has bedded in I am confident fans will notice the difference and will be happy to support both the club and the local community."
Active Luton is a large local caterer and through their trust they currently operate a range of sporting and non-sporting contracts in and around Luton.
They are a 'not for profit' organisation with charitable status and all the profits they make are reinvested through the trust into sports facilities and programmes in the Luton area.
They will be responsible for all food and drink available at the club.
Stephen Browne, director of LTFC2020, said: "Fans can be safe in the knowledge that from now on everything spent on food and drink at the club is divided between ourselves and Active Luton.
"This ensures that all the profit our partnership makes is spent in the local community – either by us at the club or by Active Luton.
"For the first time, every penny fans spend will be reinvested straight back into Luton, for the good of Luton. With Active Luton we are planning upgrades to the food on offer, a reduction in prices where possible, and a range of equipment improvements – especially in bar equipment and drink quality."
The contract, thought to be worth in excess of 400,000, lasts for a minimum of two years.
Helen Barnett, chief executive of Active Luton added: "The club have come a long way in the past 18 months and we are delighted that we have been chosen as catering partners.
"Both organisations have very similar aims and we both want to invest in the local community.
"We see this as a partnership to develop over the coming months so that Luton Town fans not only get great service, but they also know that their money is being used for excellent sports programmes inside and outside the club."
