Wife of Hatters star arrested

Karren Brady questioned by police over bung allegations

The wife of crocked Luton Town hitman Paul Peschisolido has been arrested by police investigating alleged corruption in the game.

Karren Brady, 39, who is the managing director of Premiership side Birmingham City, was questioned yesterday along with the club's co-owner David Sullivan by City Of London Police 'on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud and false accounting.'

The pair are not the first high profile figures to have been arrested since former Hatters boss Mike Newell stated in January 2006 that illicit payments to agents were not uncommon.

His comments were the catalyst for the high profile investigation into alleged 'bungs' in the game, headed up by the former Metropolitan Police Commissioner Lord Stevens.

The pair were not charged and have been bailed pending further inquiries.
