Special event for budding gardeners
The 15th annual Hertfordshire Garden Show is taking place at Knebworth House, near Stevenage on May 4 and 5.

The show attracts up to 100 exhibitors and include many Hampton Court and Chelsea garden show participants, together with some of the best nurseries and specialists in the country.

A visit to the show is a must for every budding gardener, with the experience and advice of the growers themselves and thousands of plants available, both popular and unusual.

Dating from Tudor times, Knebworth House itself has a variety of themes to interest groups but the gardens, which have existed since the 17th century, are a special attraction.

The present layout dates largely from the Victorian and Edwardian eras and bears the imprint of the noted architect Sir Edwin Lutyens.

The show will also include craft demonstrations, brass band, the Fort Knebworth play area and the Dinosaur Trail to enjoy as well as the gardening stands.

Entrance to the Hertfordshire Garden Show is included in the entrance fee of £7.50 for the Park and Gardens or £9.50 to include Knebworth House. Concessions are available for children and senior citizens.

For further information, contact Christine Smith at Knebworth House on 01438 810931, fax 01438 811908, or visit the website at www.knebworthhouse.com.

Today's Vote

Should worldwide tours of the Olympic flame be abandoned to stop giving protestors an easy target
Yes, it's a pointless stunt anyway and would not be missed
No, you can't give in to bully tactics from any quarter
Bring on more protests, they are more entertaining than the sport
