Crowds turn out for annual village event

Sweltering sun and an afternoon of fun brought out the crowds for this year's record-breaking Studham May Fair.

It was everyone's idea of an idyllic English village fair, and thousands of pounds were raised for a good cause.

The fair, held on May 10 began with the crowning of the May Queen, Charlotte Horn, who officially opened the event.

By her side were the May Queen's attendants, Molly Roberts and Priya Sander, and the May Queen's chaperone, Enid Runchman.

Studham School children entertained the crowds with traditional maypole dancing, and there were all sorts of other attractions and sideshows.

The fair was organised by The Friends Of Studham Church, and was sponsored by Home Counties Property.

Des Salmon, of the organising sub-committee, said that about £6,000 was raised for the church restoration fund.

Today's Vote

Should worldwide tours of the Olympic flame be abandoned to stop giving protestors an easy target
Yes, it's a pointless stunt anyway and would not be missed
No, you can't give in to bully tactics from any quarter
Bring on more protests, they are more entertaining than the sport
