Pensioners delighted at rock n roll star
Elvis was in the building at Capwell Grange Nursing Home for a flashback to the 1950s.
Pensioners in their blue suede slippers at the Addington Way BUPA care home were delighted by The King, who serenaded the ladies with some rock n roll classics.
Carers had transformed a small activities room in Fidora House in to a 1950s milk bar, including a drinks bar, original glass bottles, old fashioned white china, a neon sign and an Elvis cut-out.
But Elvis tribute act, Christopher Smith, made quite an impression on both staff and audience.
Capwell Grange's Una Schofield said: "Elvis - you couldn't have wished for a nicer person. He was so genuine with those elderly ladies. He was lovely. He stayed and chatted with them, you could see the ladies were enjoying it. They had a lovely time."
The elderly people living in the home, along with visitors, could order drinks at the bar including tea, coffee, milkshakes and soft drinks.
Staff dressed up as Pink Ladies and T-Birds for the party, and guests tried their luck on a slot machine.
Una said: "It's nice to make the effort for the residents."
