Exclusive sneak preview of new discovery centre
Luton Today has been given a sneak preview of the new Stockwood Discovery Centre.
The centre opens on Saturday, July 12, when celebrity gardener Charlie Dimmock will launch the opening celebrations.
The £6 million development aims to be a first class free attraction for visitors to Luton, and is home to interactive displays about the history of the town and surrounding areas.
Also in store is an outdoor discovery play area for youngsters, and new gardens featuring plants from around the world to tantalise the senses.
After all the excitement, visitors can sit back at the new café overlooking the gardens, and enjoy local, ethically produced and free range food and drink.
Maggie Appleton, director of Museums Luton, said: 'Our new discovery centre will offer something for everyone - a stroll through the gardens, a museums visit or fun in the play area.
'With its exciting new features, it is a real jewel in Luton's crown and a visitor attraction of regional importance.'
