Run by women for women
Luton All Women's Centre honorary chairwoman Sarita Jain says: "We offer a safe warm environment, a confidential space where women are welcome to come, whatever the reason. Where they can have a cup of coffee and seek advice or simply have a chat."
The centre was established to provide a secure accessible meeting place and resource centre, run by women for women.
There are a number of activities on offer ranging from Bollywood and bangra exercise classes to henna painting and one-to-one surgeries, in addition to courses and workshops, therapies and counselling sessions.
The organisation is geared to helping women build confidence and skills and is run mainly by volunteers.
Sarita, 53, who is also domestic abuse co-ordinator for the Safer Luton Partnership, says: "We want women to know 'We are here for you.' Our only criteria is that you are a woman."
The organisation is looking for more volunteers and trustees and would welcome female students who are studying for counselling degrees. If you're interested or would like more information, call the LAWC on 01582 416783.
