Treachery and love in grand operatic style

Puccini’s opera Tosca comes to the venue on Saturday April 30 at 7.30pm.

Set against the backdrop of Rome, the Napoleonic Wars and a corrupt Italian regime, the tale is told by international soloists, full orchestra and a highly praised chorus including a boys’ choir with a choirboy solo.

It also features some of the best-love music in opera, including the arias Vissi d’arte and E Lucevan le Stelle,

Directed as a Gothic, Victorian horror story, Tosca is an epic tale of true love and treachery. In order to save her love from execution, Tosca must enter into a deal of seduction with the Chief of Police, an arrangement that ends fatally for all.

Opera & Ballet International return with this traditional Ellen Kent production. Ellen has entertained and filled audiences for over 16 years, creating ballet and opera productions which are accessible and highly regarded.

Opera and Ballet International have previously taken productions to venues including the Royal Albert Hall, London and Leeds Castle, as well as further afield at the Biettedine Festiva in Lebanon
