Take three women – a mother and two daughters, with a mountain of emotional baggage between them – and hey presto! You have the ingredients for one helluva radio show.
Luton teacher and counsellor Myrna Loy is taking to the airwaves with daughters D-Lo and Kae-C as part of Black History Month.
D-Lo is an alcohol and drugs adviser who works with young adults while Kae-C’s strength is finanical management.
Together they’re presenting Straight Talk Saturdays for Jamrock Radio between 12pm and 2pm on alternate Saturdays, starting this week (October 5) with ‘Step-parents – love ‘em or hate ‘em.’
Myrna said: “We’re hoping that by sharing our own experiences, we can encourage young people aged between 11 and 25 to call in and open up.
“We hope to create mutual understanding on issues such as raising children, a child’s sense of wellbeing and how young people cope.” She added: “The show is not intended to be acrimonious but it will be controversial. It’s not about pointing the finger but it will encourage responsible lifestyle choices.”
