Griffins take us on magic carpet ride

What better way to start the countdown to Christmas than seeing The Griffin Players create magic on stage in Aladdin?

The group have been performing pantomimes in Luton for more than 30 years, and once again they are hard at work to welcome those young, and young at heart, to the fairytale world of panto.

Join the Griffins on a journey to Agrabah, where a young ragamuffin called Aladdin longs to create a better life for himself and his mother, Widow Twankey, who slaves away in a laundrette.

It is only when Aladdin meets his monkey friend Nutz, the beautiful Princess Jasmine and a larger-than-life genie that things start to change.

Director Debbie Cavanagh said: “I’ve always loved the magical world of pantomime as it is often children’s first experience of live theatre. I am delighted to be bringing this traditional tale to the local stage.”

The cast includes many Griffin favourites including Denise Lovelock as the mysterious soothsayer, Ben Jaggers as the outrageous Widow Twankey, Paul Rogers as the loathsome Abanazar and Joshua Thompson as the genial genie.

The Griffins are also pleased to welcome talented youngsters Stuart Grey and Bethany McLeish to the cast as Aladdin and Jasmine.

With special effects, live music and all the fun of a traditional panto, this is not to be missed. From November 30 to December 8 at Luton Library Theatre. For tickets call the box office on 07906 075455 or visit www.griffinplayers.co.uk.
