Hat-mad youngsters in Luton have added nine new hats from Olympic teams all over the world to their growing hat collection at the Wardown Park Museum.

Re-Created, the museum youth team, launched the Hat for a Hat cultural exchange scheme in conjunction with the opening of their Around the World in 80 Objects exhibition. They contacted Olympic organisers of each nation participating in the London 2012 Games with a video letter asking for a traditional hat from their country in exchange for an English straw boater hat made by Olney Headwear in Luton.

Canada, St Kitts and Nevis, Indonesia, Malaysia, Lesotho, Angola, Uganda and Congo have all sent hats.

See them on display in the Wardown Park Museum.
