Midsummer madness at the R & D

Midsummer Bacchanalia

Midsummer Bacchanalia

THE Royal & Derngate continues celebrating the hedonism of the Greek demi-god, Dionysus, with a night of storytelling and debauchery (well, okay, not quite, but you never know after Bacchus has delivered a few rounds of drinks!).

Intrepid audiences are invited to see in the midsummer with a unique storytelling experience on Saturday June 23 from 11pm until 1am, hosted by the theatre’s resident storyteller Jo Blake Cave.

At the Midsummer Bacchanalia guests will hear the fascinating story of the birth of Dionysus, god of chaos, wine and ecstasy, as waiters tempt them with decadent bites and tantalising drinks, in a bustling Bacchic bar.

The press promotion teases with the tag-line “Expect the unexpected as we ask the question, what might Dionysus make you do?” Tickets for this intriguing night of midsummer madness can be booked by calling the box office on 01604 624811 or visiting www.royalanderngate.co.uk.

To continue the reveries, ticket-holders can gain free entry into the Black Bottom Club after the Midsummer Bacchanalia draws to its dramatic close. To find out more about the evening – which is for the over 18s only - visit www.midsummerbacchanalia.com.
