After the first game finished 0-0 at Upton Park, 13,166 packed into Kenilworth Road to see attacker Scott Oakes net a superb hat-trick to see off their top-flight opponents and reach a semi-final against Chelsea at Wembley, where they edged out 2-0. Below, the Luton News takes a special look at just who took to the field for Town that day.
1. GK: Juergen Sommer
American keeper played all seven games in the competition, and was a regular in the league too, missing just three matches all season.
2. RB: Des Linton
Ever-present for Luton in the competition, as he broke jnto the team during October and didn't look back after that, with 40 appearances in total.
3. LB: Julian James
Had missed the early parts of the season, but came back into the side around the turn of the year and didn't miss a game afterwards. Another who played every single cup match.
4. CB: John Dreyer
Played all seven games for Luton in the cup, as he too had an excellent season at Kenilworth Road, with 40 matches under his belt, scoring three goals too.
