A comic clash of cultures comes to town

Promoters Comedy Lounge are running the ‘Culture Clash’ show at the UK Centre for Carnival Arts in St Mary’s Road.

The venue will come alive with some Britain’s most talented comedians from the African and Caribbean comedy circuit. The show aims to showcase the ability of up-and-coming comics while giving the audience a comedy insight into what it was like for them growing up in the UK.

The line-up features Kevin J, a comedian on the rise, Richard Blackwood described him as having “that X factor”, and his honest character and relevant humour have had audiences of all races in hysterics wherever he performs.

Also on the bill is Aurie Styla, who has been on stage regularly since he was 15, along with Mr Cee, described as “cool, charming and conscious”.

A Dot Comedian, also known as Afolabi Dasaolu, provides a new and unique brand of comedy, and Lady Lyrics, also known as Irene Campbell, is a local comedian who captures the essence of everyday living through a blend of her own story and topical news, offering the audience timely wisdom and advice in a way that only her characters can.

Doors open at 8pm for a 9pm prompt start.
