After studying prostitution in the late 1990s, Ruth came up with the idea for the novel, which is intended to be the first in a series.

Maintaining contact with women who have personal experience of prostitution is essential to Ruth as a writer and campaigner.

On her Soul Destruction website www.soul-destruction.com she has collated a number of their stories on a page named Voices of Prostitution Survivors.
