It will take place at St Mary’s Church in Luton on Saturday, November 24 with Dunstable’s Ashton Middle School Choir as special guests.

Various schools have been asked to take part in a competition to draw a picture and write some words for British heroes and the charity’s Vauxhall ambassador Derek Derenalagi – who lost both legs in a land mine incident in Afghanistan several years ago – will present the prizes.

Vauxhall communications director Denis Chick will introduce the event which will be compered by the dulcet-toned Terry Driver.

VMVC spokesman Peter Hall said: “The concert, though not a carol service, will have a Christmas flavour.”

He added: “Ashton Middle School has a very reputable choir under the baton of their conductor and music teacher Gemma Palmer.”

There will be a special display of children’s messages to our heroes, Help for Heroes Christmas merchandise and a raffle, as well as a buffet during the interval.
