It’s Magnificent Music Hall

If your heart soars when you hear those delightful old melodies so beloved of our grandparents’ generation, then step back in time to the glamorous, glorious days of traditional Victorian entertainment and enjoy Magnificent Music Hall at Dunstable’s Grove Theatre on Wednesday, May 7.

No doubt you’ll remember the BBC’s immensely successful series The Good Old Days which enchanted audiences across the globe for more than three decades.

Even if you didn’t, you’ll be captivated by Magnificent Music Hall which authentically recreates the atmosphere of bygone days with a selection of songs, sketches and other variety acts.

A total of 2,000 artistes took part in the original series and now a glittering galaxy of stars is taking to the stage to delight and entertain all over again – portraying, with great wit and warmth, a truly golden age.

After the Victorian era, music hall rose in prominence and popularity once more at the start of the First World War.

This much-loved form of entertainment was an important part of the war effort and was used at charity events as a means to raise money and keep spirits high.

In this centenary year of remembrance, Magnificent Music Hall will feature a selection of the great songs that kept the home fires burning.
