Bedfordshire-born Victoria is Team GB’s most successful female cycling Olympian ever with a silver and two gold medals.

Speaking ahead of the event, Victoria, who has supported the series for the last four years, said: “It has been such a pleasure to be involved with Macmillan Cycletta so far.

“I’m proud to have been a part of it since the very beginning and am delighted to see more and more women continue to take up cycling.

“I am hugely looking forward to returning to Macmillan Cycletta Bedfordshire, the atmosphere there on event day is so special and I love riding around, taking in the stunning scenery that I remember from my childhood.”

Macmillan Cycletta Bedfordshire is a women-only cycling event, managed by sports event company Human Race. The cycle route will wind through the picturesque Bedfordshire countryside on quiet, safe and well-managed roads, directed by friendly marshals. Treat stops will be en-route.

There are three distance choices to choose from, these cater for novice riders through to more experienced cyclists. The novice distance will be a manageable 20km route which is perfect for beginners. The classic route which is 40km is more suited for regular riders whilst the challenge distances range from 70km to 100km are aimed at more experienced riders, who are seeking a more demanding ride or for those in training for sportives. Macmillan Cycletta is open to girls aged 12-16 years old when accompanied by an adult.

The hub will be the event village at Woburn Abbey where Victoria Pendleton will be based, before taking to the roads alongside entrants. Her fellow riders will have the opportunity to be inspired and to meet her and other experts for advice ranging from fitness and nutrition to looking like a champion during and after exercise. Riders will also enjoy the opportunity to relax, refresh and rejuvenate in the Macmillan Cycletta Spa provided by Unlisted London, who will be offering a complimentary spa experience as well as tips on beauty fitness and well-being.

At Macmillan Cycletta events the younger generation will also be able to get involved and get active at the Scootathlon which takes place on the day of the ride.

The Scootathlon is a mini, fun triathlon for children between the ages of four and eight where they scoot (150m), bike (600m) and run (200m). Girls and boys will race together in various age categories, completing the three disciplines.
