WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 9

Adults with learning difficulties arts and craft sessions. Every Wednesday 10.30am to 12.30pm and Saturdays from 11am to 1pm at Arttrend, Arundel Road, Luton. Social and creative activity for adults with learning difficulties, engaging in all types of art and craft work such as painting in acrylics, papier mache, salt dough, cross stitch, rug making etc. Please see the website www.arttrend.co.uk and go to Art ALD, then see the gallery of work already done. Luton Irish Forum holds a weekly Tuesday and Wednesday Club from 11am to 1.30pm at 102 Hitchin Road.

This is a great chance to meet old friends and make some new ones. Refreshments are all included along with soda bread, scones with jam and monthly chicken and chips. Entry costs £1, plus optional £3 for two games of bingo and a raffle.

Be inspired by a tour of the beautifully decorated house and gardens and then create a wreath from a range of materials sourced from the estate. Lunch and all materials are included. Cost: £55. Two carol concerts will take place at Wrest Park, with carols sung by Christ’s College Cambridge choir, in the sumptuous surroundings of Wrest Park’s Library. There will also be a glass of wine or soft drink to prepare the vocal chords for a memorable night of singing. Performances take place at 6.30pm and 8.30pm. Tickets cost £15. Luton Irish Forum’s Baby and Toddler group meets at 102 Hitchin Road, Luton LU2 0ES every Friday from 9.30am to 11am during term time. Recommended a donation of £1 per adult and 50p per child. A new Designer Makers Fair is opening at The Hat Factory, Bute Street from 11am to 3pm. There will be festive entertainment and a chocolate tasting competition. The Fair will be held every other month and include a variety of merchandise which has been made and designed by skilled people. Mantrata are a unique, eclectic fusion band formed by the bass player Tim Powell, who writes all the compositions. These are inspired by the ethnic music of the Eastern Mediterranean, the Near East and Africa as well as modal jazz pioneers such as John Coltrane. They play at the Black Horse, 23 Hastings Street, Luton at 3pm.
