Schoolgirl raises hundreds for ZSL Whipsnade Zoo

A five-year-old girl ran a 1.5 mile fun run on Saturday to raise money for ZSL Whipsnade Zoo, which has been struggling financially after it was forced to close for three months during the lockdown.

Molly Tuohy, from St Albans, decided to do her own Fun Run and raise money for the zoo when the St Albans Annual Fun Run was cancelled.

She said: "This year one of our favourite places to go, Whipsnade Zoo, has been forced to close for weeks on end, incurring massive financial losses.

"Whilst they froze memberships and their gates closed, the staff have continued to work, caring and feeding for the animals as normal which costs thousands weekly."

Molly's mum Tara said: "Molly's plea is to ask people to help us raise money for all the baby animals in the zoo. but it isn’t just about the babies.
