This winter the budget airline will take its total number of destinations at the airport up to 55, by opening up routes to Tenerife, Lanzarote and Toulouse.

Across the new routes the airline is expected to fly 1100 passengers a week from Luton, operating twice a week to Lanzarote and Tenerife and four times a week to Toulouse.

In September easyJet will bolster its operations at Luton with two new aircraft, which will be used to support the three new routes.

Neil Slaven, easyJet commercial manager, said: “We’re pleased to be continuing to deliver an unrivalled network of destinations with three new routes placed on sale today from London Luton Airport.

“This underlines our commitment to both leisure and business passengers in the region. It is safe to say we are seeing significant growth at the airport in increasing the choice of winter holiday destinations for our passengers.”

easyJet says it expects to fly over six million passengers from Luton Airport this year– a 500,000 increase on 2015.
