There will be no need to use the car park pay machines - a measure to reduce possible exposure to the virus - while also helping to reduce some of the financial burden on key workers and guests.

The Market car park is now closed until further notice. Central car park and library car parks remain open.

"We continue to implement a number of preventative measures, which we have done since the outbreak of COVID-19, including escalating the intensity and frequency of our cleaning procedures, providing instructional signage and encouraging all our visitors and staff to practice good hygiene with regular hand washing.

"This additional change will help those who have no choice but to use their cars, which is particularly important while we all practice social distancing and avoid public transport.

“We would also like to remind guests that this measure is designed to help those who have a real need to use the car parks.

"Everyone should be following the Government’s instructions to stay at home unless absolutely necessary, so that we can all get through this challenging time together safely.”
