Lidl supermarket set to open at Luton's The Mall
The Mall has announced today that grocery retailer Lidl has exchanged contracts with the Luton shopping centre.
The popular discount supermarket will be moving into the 20,000 sq ft mall unit, previously occupied by Marks & Spencer within the next 18 months.
The investment is set to provide a huge boost for Luton town centre and the creation of new jobs.
Roy Greening, general manager at The Mall, said: “We’re thrilled to announce Lidl will be arriving here at The Mall, creating great job opportunities for residents and providing a huge boost for Luton town centre.
"The popular supermarket will complement our existing retail offering here at The Mall, alongside helping to drive footfall for other businesses across the town.”
A Lidl spokesman added: “We are delighted to confirm plans to open a new store in Luton, which marks another milestone in our ambitious store expansion programme.
"We’ve seen incredible demand for Lidl stores across the country and look forward to offering our quality products and incredible value to shoppers in and around the area.”
