Small shares fund

AN INVESTMENT scheme being introduced next month could provide a funding lifeline for small firms, says a Luton accountant.

The Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS) enables qualifying businesses to raise funds of up to £150,000 in exchange for shares.

Mark Sivakumar, who set up the TaxAssist Accountants office in Capability Green in 2011, said: “Qualifying small businesses will be able to attract investors with the offer of income tax relief of up to 50 per cent on the amount they invest, provided they don’t have more than a 30 per cent stake in the business.”
