Travel firm stages sports tournament for Luton youngsters

Hundreds of pupils from across Luton were given the chance to rub shoulders with two sports stars as they competed in a tournament organised by travel firm TUI.

Commonwealth Youth Games 100m silver medallist Rechmial Miller and MK Dons starlet Megan Gordon inspired more than 200 students from Ramridge, St Matthew’s, Stopsley and Wigmore primary schools

during yesterday’s event held at Inspire sports centre.

The stars were joined by town mayor Dave Taylor, who cheered pupils on as they took part in Athletics, Boxercise, FitBall, Gymnastics, Karate and Rugby.

The event was staged with the help of elder students and 50 volunteers from Luton-based TUI.

The firm’s UK& Ireland MD, Nick Longman, said: “As one of the biggest employers in Luton we want to provide great employment opportunities, and have a wider impact. Our hope is that this event has established community-strengthening relationships and that sport will now be part of more young lives.”
