Thanks to the Rotary Club of Dunstable, Dunstable in Bloom were gifted 8000 crocus bulbs to plant this year. The club work tirelessly to help towards the eradication of polio across the world, and the crocus bulb is the symbol of this project.

In addition to the 8000 crocus bulbs, the Town Council provided Dunstable in Bloom with 2000 daffodil bulbs to plant.

Between October 24 and November 8, they led a community planting project bringing together residents, businesses, community groups and Rotarians to help plant them all. They also gifted Caddington Care Home and the Lowther Road Community Gardening Group some bulbs to plant.

Chair of Dunstable In Bloom, Liz Jones, said: “it’s been an amazing few weeks with a great group of helpers from across our community. What started with a shout out for one or two to step forward and help, landed up with over 50 people involved over the six planting sessions.

"We can’t wait to see them flower in the spring and provide such a pop of colour."

Dunstable in Bloom have been successful in a Asda Foundation Better Together grant application focusing on bringing the community together in activities such as bulb planting. The grant has allowed for bulb planting equipment to be purchased, hand held gardening tools and community events to be held.

There is lots more planned for 2026 and further opportunities to help will be announced on their Facebook page and website.
