Dunstable’s smallest theatre is hoping to make a big impact on a local charity by fundraising during its next production.

Dunstable Rep will be performing Beautiful Thing by Jonathan Harvey from Friday 14th to Saturday 22nd November 2025 at The Little Theatre, Dunstable. This poignant and heartwarming play will also serve a special purpose: raising funds for Rainbow Bedfordshire, a local charity supporting LGBTQ+ individuals and promoting inclusion across the county.

Directed by John O’Leary-Fawcett, Beautiful Thing tells the story of two teenage boys, Ste and Jamie, neighbours on a South London estate, who find love and acceptance amid hardship and prejudice. With humour, tenderness, and a nostalgic soundtrack featuring Mama Cass, the play captures the universal struggle for identity and belonging; themes that remain as powerful today as when the play first premiered.

The production is part of the Rep’s 80th anniversary year, marking eight decades of bringing high-quality theatre to the heart of Dunstable’s community.

Mandy Perry, Chair of Dunstable Rep, said: “Community has always been at the heart of everything we do at the Rep. Beautiful Thing is a story about love, resilience, and the power of people supporting one another – values that reflect our own connection to Dunstable over the past 80 years. We’re delighted to give back to the community that has supported us by raising funds for Rainbow Bedfordshire and their incredible work championing equality and acceptance.”
