Beanstalk charity launches literacy appeal

Make a New Year resolution to join literacy charity Beanstalk as a reading helper.
It needs volunteers to give children the gift of reading which will have enchance the youngsters’ ability, confidence and self-esteem.
Each Beanstalk reading helper works with three children, seeing each one for two 30-minute sessions a week during term time, for three terms.
With Beanstalk’s support, the child’s approach to learning and enjoying books is transformed.
Spokesman Greg Yarnall said: “More than 1,000 primary school children are still leaving school unable to read so you will give them the skills they need to succeed in life.”
