'Excellent' GCSE results at Challney High School for Girls despite 'challenging year'

Today, the students received their results which will enable them to take the next steps in their education, work or training.

The school, which is part of the Chiltern Learning Trust, stated that this year’s GCSEs maintained the "excellent results over the last three years" and reflect the school's current 'Outstanding' Ofsted judgement.

Among the top performing students are Ikram Kouroughli who secured 11 grade 9s, Samia Rahman who gained 9 grade 9s, Kaneez Fatima who was awarded 8 grade 9s and Mahera Chowdhury who achieved 7 grade 9s. Grade 9s have been awarded in most subjects.

Joanne Mylles, headteacher at Challney High School for Girls, said: “I am very proud of the girls’ achievements and progress this year. The girls have achieved these excellent results through their hard work in challenging times.

"As a year group, they have been focused and dedicated to their studies.

“The results have been achieved through the commitment of the students and their teachers, the support from the Head of Year and the year team, the tremendous support and encouragement from parents and members of the governing body and the Chiltern Learning Trust

"We are confident that the girls have not been disadvantaged and that the results are very accurate having gone through a rigorous process."

Rehana Faisal, chair of governors, added: ‘It is heartening that the girls have been awarded the grades they deserve from their teachers who know them well. Their results will enable them to progress in their education and fulfil the school’s mission of ‘Developing influential women of the future."
