It’s all going eco at green school

Eco-warriers at Toddington St George C of E School are celebrating being awarded a coveted Green Flag award.

Pupils and staff have been working hard to transform their daily routine into an environmentally-friendly one, and their efforts paid off as they won the Eco-Schools Green Flag award.

Simple changes like turning off all unnecessary lights and recycling food waste and other materials are helping to make the school more sustainable and save money.

Headteacher Jane Spencer said: “We are extremely proud of our ECO team. The children have made significant changes to school life and their hard work has embedded eco-friendly activities into daily life.

Teachers, support staff and governors have all helped us recycle, grow food, dig an allotment, save energy, generate energy through solar panels, plant bulbs and plants and develop our pond area. The school site is a lovely space to work and play in now.”
