New special free school for Luton set to open in September 2021

A consultation has begun this week on a proposed new special free school for Luton.

​Called Windmill Hill School it will be run by the Kettering-based Creating Tomorrow Multi Academy Trust.

The trust wants to see the level of support for the new school and views on it seeking a funding agreement to run the school with the Secretary of State for Education.

The school will educate pupils aged 11 to 16 with special educational needs on the currently vacant previous Studio School site in York Street, High Town.

It would look to open in September 2021 with 49 students, with the capacity increasing to 120 by 2024.

There are virtual events during the consultation, which runs until March 21. These are on February 24 (2-3pm) and March 13 (10.30am to 11.30am).
