Business as usual at L&D as doctors take strike action

IT was business as usual at the Luton & Dunstable Hospital last Thursday despite doctors taking industrial action over pensions.

None of the urgent, critical care or emergency services for patients, including maternity and neonatal care, at the hospital were affected.

Sixty three patient appointments were changed during the week as medical staff plans were identified. Only one clinic was cancelled and all other patients were notified in advance.

No operations had to be cancelled because of the industrial action although 12 non-urgent surgical procedures were rebooked in advance.
