Coronavirus latest: 18 new cases confirmed in Luton over past 48 hours

18 new instances of coronavirus have been confirmed in Luton over the past 48 hours, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

The total number of Covid-19 infections in the borough now stands at 1,661 (+18).

Figures were not published by Public Health England yesterday (Tuesday).

Elsewhere in the county, Central Bedfordshire has 1,299 (+2) cases while Bedford's figure stands at 1,388 (+2).

A total of 313,798 people in the UK have been diagnosed with Covid-19, increasing by 1,009 in today's figures.

46,706 people confirmed to have had the virus have died in the UK, up by 77 today.
