Coronavirus latest: 13 new cases in Luton as town ranked 10th highest infection rate in England

13 new instances of coronavirus have been confirmed in Luton over the past 24 hours, according to Public Health England.

The total number of infections in the borough now stands at 1,519 (+13).

Five new cases were added yesterday (Tuesday), two on Monday, and a peak of 34 over the weekend.

Luton's infection rate is 709.5 per 100,000, the 10th highest in England.

Elsewhere in the county, Central Bedfordshire has 1,254 (+1) cases while Bedford's figure stands at 1,302 (+3).

Across the country, there have been 296,377 infections at an increase of 560 over the past 24 hours.

45,501 people have died with coronavirus in the UK, up by 79 since yesterday.
