There have been 66 new positive Covid-19 tests confirmed in Luton over the past 24 hours.

The total for the borough is now 3,792 according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

Elsewhere in the county, Central Bedfordshire has 2,642 (+41) cases, while Bedford's figure stands at 2,543 (+19).

There has been one new death recorded in Luton, the total is now 196, Central Bedfordshire has recorded 237 deaths, and there have been 178 deaths in Bedford, according to Public Health England.

There have been 1,146,484 lab-confirmed cases across the UK, up by 23,2877.

48,475 deaths have been recorded within 28 days of a positive test, with a daily rise of 355.

The government hopes a lockdown will help stem the rising tide of new Covid-19 cases.
