81 new coronavirus infections have been confirmed in Luton over the past 24 hours, according to figures from Public Health England.

The total number of cases in the borough now stands at 6,167 (+81).

The case rate in Luton is 245 per 100,00.

Elsewhere in the county, Central Bedfordshire has 3,748 cases (+56), while Bedford has 3,408 cases (+27).

There were no recorded deaths in Luton (221) or Central Bedfordshire (259) and three recorded in Bedford (204).

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 16,298 and now stands at 1,690,432.

The number of deaths has risen by 504 to 60,617.

Luton is in tier two (high alert) along with the rest of Bedfordshire.
