Coronavirus latest: Eight new cases confirmed in Luton

Eight new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Luton over the past 24 hours, according to Public Health England.

It brings the total number of cases in the borough to 832. Yesterday (Saturday) saw seven new infections confirmed.

Elsewhere in the county, Central Bedfordshire has 745 (+6) cases while Bedford's figure has risen to 776 (+2).

There have been no new coronavirus-related deaths reported at Luton & Dunstable Hospital today.

NHS England figures show 274 people with the disease have died at the L&D as of 5pm on Saturday, June 20.

Across the country, there have been 304,331 infections at an increase of 1,221 over the past 24 hours.

A total of 42,632 people have died with coronavirus in the UK, up by 43 since yesterday.

The government is due to unveil plans over the two-metre social distancing rule this week.

Spain has also said that it will allow British tourists to enter the country without a two-week quarantine.
