The total number of cases in the borough now stands at 1,987 (+27).

Yesterday (Wednesday) saw 28 new cases, with 12 on Tuesday and 32 on Monday.

Elsewhere in the county, Central Bedfordshire has 1,511 (+20) cases, while Bedford's figure stands at 1,593 (+11).

There have been 416,363 lab-confirmed cases in the UK, rising by 6,634 since yesterday.

The number of Covid-19 associated UK deaths has been recorded as 41,902 - rising by 40 over the past 24 hours.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced new restrictions which come into effect today (Thursday) to curb the rising tide in new Covid-19 infections across the country.

Pubs will be required to offer table service only, and must close by 10pm.

The move has been criticised as "devastating" by the UK hospitality centre, but the PM has warned that restrictions may be toughened up even further if the number of new infections continues to increase.
