Coronavirus latest: Luton has just one confirmed case in past 24 hours

It mean the total number of COVID-19 diagnoses in the borough stands at 757.

Elsewhere in the county, Central Bedfordshire has 641 cases and Bedford has 654.

Across the country, a total of 276,332 has been diagnosed with coronavirus - increasing by 1,570 today.

There have been 39,045 COVID-19 related deaths in the UK, 111 more than yesterday.

At today's daily coronavirus briefing, Health Secretary Matt Hancock said the UK was "winning the battle against COVID-19, with new cases at their lowest since the lockdown began on March 23.

He also defended the new track-and-trace system, after criticisms were made of its effectiveness in the national media.

Under new rules announced by Prime Minister Boris Johnson last week, people in England are allowed to meet up in gardens and parks with up to six people from separate households, while some primary school children returned to classes today.

Local leaders are questioning whether it is "too soon" to ease the lockdown after a warm weekend which saw hundreds of people flock to beaches. The leader of Gateshead Council - which has the second-worst infection rate in England - has called for strict lockdown measures to remain in place.
