55 people with the virus have died in the past 24 hours - the lowest since March 22 - bringing the country's death toll to 40,597.
At today's coronavirus daily briefing, Health Secretary Matt Hancock said the virus was "in retreat" and that numbers dying in care homes had dropped significantly since the peak of the pandemic in late April.

He added that the government's 'whole care home' testing service would be rolled out across England and Wales' 6,000 care homes.
Office for National Statistics (ONS) data show care home deaths have accounted for 29.1% of all COVID-19 related deaths in the UK.
