Coronavirus latest: No new cases reported in Luton for third day in row

There have been no new coronavirus infections reported in Luton for a third day, according to Public Health England figures.

It means the total number of infections in the borough stands at 806.

Luton's infection rate is 376.4 per 100,000, which places it 29th-highest of 150 local authorities in England and Wales.

Elsewhere in the county, Central Bedfordshire has 714 (+11) cases while Bedford's figure has risen to 745 (+19).

There have been no new coronavirus-related deaths reported at Luton & Dunstable Hospital since the weekend.

NHS England figures show 270 people with the disease have died at the L&D as of 5pm on Sunday, June 14.

Across the country, there have been 298,136 infections at an increase of 1,279 over the past 24 hours.
