The total number of cases in the borough now stands at 1,359 (+2).

Yesterday (Thursday) saw 496 cases added to Luton's total after Public Health England made changes to its data gathering.

Previous data shared by Public Health England relied solely on Pillar 1 (testing from Public Health England and NHS Hospital Trusts), but as of Thursday the information includes Pillar 2 (non-clinical and commercial testing).

Luton has the 18th-worst coronavirus infection rate among authorities in England and Wales, at 634.7 per 100,000.

Elsewhere in the county, Central Bedfordshire stands has 1208 (+4) cases while Bedford's figure is at 1,231 (+4).

Across the country, there have been 284,276 infections at an increase of 544 over the past 24 hours.

44,131 people have died with coronavirus in the UK, up by 137 since yesterday.
