Coronavirus latest: Zero new cases in Luton for second day while two deaths reported at L&D Hospital

There have been no new instances of coronavirus reported in Luton for the past 48 hours, according to Public Health England.

It means the total number of infections in the borough stands at 806, with just one new case confirmed on Saturday.

Luton's infection rate is 376.4 per 100,000, which places it 29th-highest of 150 local authorities in England and Wales.

Elsewhere in the county, Central Bedfordshire stands still with 703 (+0) cases while Bedford's figure has been revised at 726 (-2).

There have been two new coronavirus-related deaths reported at Luton & Dunstable Hospital over the weekend.

NHS England figures show 270 people with the disease have died at the L&D Hospital as of 5pm on Sunday, June 14.

Across the country, there have been 296,857 infections at an increase of 1,056 over the past 24 hours.

A total of 41,736 people have died with coronavirus in the UK, up by 38 since yesterday.
