Coronavirus latest:100 new cases in Luton on last day before tier review

The total number of cases in the borough now stands at 7,237 (+100).

The case rate in Luton is currently 298.5 per 100,000.

Elsewhere in the county, Central Bedfordshire has 4,764 (+106) cases while Bedford's figure is at 3,992 (+59).

There have been 1,888,116 lab-confirmed cases across the UK, up by a daily rise of 18,450.

64,908 deaths within 28 days of a positive test have been recorded, up by 506 today.

Luton entered tier two (high alert) restrictions along with the rest of Bedfordshire once lockdown ended on Wednesday, December 2.

According to government advice, in tier two:

> You must not socialise with anyone you do not live with or who is not in your support bubble in any indoor setting;

> You must not socialise in a group of more than six people outside, including in a garden or a public space – this is called the ‘rule of 6’;

> Businesses and venues can continue to operate, in a Covid-secure manner, other than those which remain closed by law, such as nightclubs;

> Pubs and bars must close, unless operating as restaurants. Hospitality venues can only serve alcohol with substantial meals;

> Hospitality businesses selling food or drink for consumption on their premises are required to provide table service only and stop taking orders after 10pm;

> Places of worship remain open but you must not socialise with people from outside of your household or support bubble.
