The Luton and Dunstable University Hospital has bid a fond farewell to a team of cabin crew volunteers who have been helping in the Wellbeing Hub during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The volunteers have been helping hospital staff as part of the national Project Wingman.

Chief Executive David Carter formally thanked them for contribution they have made to supporting the NHS, and particularly the staff at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital, over the last few months.

He said: “Thank you to all of you – you have played such an important part in supporting our staff through the worst of the COVID-19 outbreak.

“You’ve made a massive difference in our Staff Wellbeing Hub, helping to transform it into an oasis of rest, recuperation and calm.

"And you have been doing this seven days a week which was absolutely invaluable.”

Wingman Coordinating team leader Emma Harris, said: “We want to thank you for allowing us to come and help out, it’s meant a lot for us because we have really enjoyed meeting all your staff, and it has also meant we have been able to see each other when otherwise we might not have.

"I would just like to end by saying thank you to all the crew members here today.”
