Tesco donates home learning equipment to Luton charity to help vulnerable children during lockdown

Staff at the Tesco Extra store in Dunstable have donated over £500 worth of home learning equipment to vulnerable children in Luton and Dunstable.

Colleagues at the store on Skimpot Road, have been working with Level Trust, a Luton based charity that supports families to overcome the cost of education, an issues which has been compounded with the coronavirus lockdown.

Items donated by Tesco include stationary, paper, writing pads, books, games and puzzles, which will be distributed across the area to inspire children to continue learning whilst in lockdown.

Karen Linley, community champion at Tesco Extra in Dunstable, said: “It goes without saying that in times of crisis, we all need to unite as a community and help one another wherever it is needed.

“With 37% of children in Luton living in poverty, we wanted to show our support to the many children who don’t have items like laptops, TVs and iPads to keep them occupied at home.

“We’ve been really impressed with the great work we’ve seen at the Level Trust, and we look forward to continuing to support the charity in the future.”
