Worried about coronavirus in Luton? Have your say at Skype meeting with council bosses

Lutonians have the chance to put questions about coronavirus in the town to council leaders at an online meeting this evening.

Luton Borough Council is inviting residents to a virtual meeting (link below) of the health and wellbeing board today (Tuesday) at 6pm to address concerns about COVID-19 in the town.

Public feedback has already helped shaped the agenda of the meeting and work is underway to address some of the concerns raised, including:

> Disproportionate impact of coronavirus on specific groups within the community.

> How the crisis is impacting mental health amongst residents.

> How will we keep our children safe as schools reopen.

Cllr Hazel Simmons MBE, leader of the council and chairman of the health and wellbeing board, said: “Thank you for sharing your perspectives and worries with us.

"We are a diverse town with diverse needs and we would like to ensure everyone has an opportunity to have their voice heard as we make plans to get through this distressing time together.

"The board has already started working on some of your concerns and this will lay out their proposals in this meeting.”

The meeting will be conducted over Skype from 6pm to 9pm at https://democracy.luton.gov.uk/cmis5public/Meetings/tabid/70/ctl/ViewMeetingPublic/mid/397/Meeting/5799/Committee/1131/SelectedTab/Documents/Default.aspx. Up to 200 members of the public will be able to attend this meeting to listen in on the debate.
